Course Information

This course will give candidates foundation training and assessment towards a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Red Trained Operator card. This course is designed to provide candidates with thorough practical and theory training in being a Slinger/Signaller Delegates must have a basic understanding and knowledge of current Health & Safety issues. Health & Safety tests must be current and in date. (Completed within the last 24 months)

Potential and existing operators who have either received no formal instruction or those requiring refresher training.

Joining Instructions

Prior to commencing any CPCS training / testing, You must have completed a CITB operatives health & safety test. The test must be in date, the requirement is within two years of the test date photo identification for test day.

Course Agenda

The Slinger Signaller CPCS A40 or NPORS N402 training course starts with an introduction to the role and responsibilities of a Slinger Signaller, including safety regulations and personal protective equipment. Trainees will then learn how to interpret lifting plans and conduct risk assessments. Standard signalling methods and pre-use checks of lifting accessories will also be covered.

The course then moves on to practical skills training, where trainees will learn how to direct the movement of loads, select and inspect lifting accessories, and determine the weight and dimensions of loads. Emphasis will be placed on proper communication with the crane operator.

The final part of the course is an assessment of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This ensures that trainees have a thorough understanding of the course material and are able to apply it in a real-world setting. Successful completion of the assessment will result in a certification for the Slinger Signaller CPCS A40 or NPORS N402 training course.

From A682 Burnley, simply head southeast on Church St towards Active Way/A679. Take a sharp right onto School Ln, then a slight left onto Active Way/A679. Continue straight and at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Active Way/A679. Turn right onto Westgate, which turns slightly left and becomes Westway/A671. At Burnley Barracks Interchange, take the 3rd exit onto Cavalry Way/A671. From there, merge onto M65 and take the A56 exit to Bury/Manchester/M66/Clitheroe/A6068.Once on the A56, keep left and continue towards Accrington Bypass/A56. At Rising Bridge Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Haslingden Bypass/A56. Then, take the A681 exit towards Todmorden and at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Manchester Rd/A680/A681. Finally, take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout onto Manchester Rd/B6527. Continue on B6527 and turn left onto Crow Wood Rd.
