Course Information
This course is ideal for low-hazard environments (e.g. offices, shops, libraries) or where your needs assessment identifies a requirement for a first aider trained in emergency first aid at work. Also this course replaced what was often referred to as the ‘Appointed Person’ course....
Who Should Attend?
The Emergency First Aid at Work training programme is designed for delegates whose employment requires them to manage a medical situation until help arrives. Alternatively where an employer's assessment of first aid identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is that they appoint a person to take charge of first aid facilities and emergency arrangements.
Joining Instructions
1) National Insurance Number (failure to bring this will delay certification) 2) A copy of this Booking Confirmation 3) Photographic ID (Driving Licence or Passport) 4) Casual clothing is recommended due to the practical element of the course
Course Agenda
The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations in the workplace. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the role of the first aider, actions to be taken at the scene of an accident, CPR resuscitation, heart attacks, shock, bleeding, electrical injuries, burns, choking and asthma, and poisoning.
The first part of the course focuses on the role of the first aider, which includes understanding the legal requirements and responsibilities of a first aider, as well as the importance of remaining calm and acting quickly in an emergency situation. Participants will also learn how to assess the scene of an accident and identify potential hazards.
The second part of the course covers basic life support skills, such as CPR resuscitation and how to deal with heart attacks. Participants will also learn how to recognize and manage shock, as well as how to control bleeding and treat common injuries such as burns and electrical injuries. The course also includes practical demonstrations and hands-on practice to ensure participants are confident in their skills.
The final part of the course covers specific emergency situations, including choking and asthma, as well as poisoning.
