Course Agenda

During the Catheterisation training course, participants will learn about the definitions and methods of catheterisation, including the differences between supra pubic and urethra catheters. They will also understand the advantages and disadvantages of urinary catheters and the reasons for catheterisation. This will provide a solid foundation for the rest of the course.

The course will then cover male and female anatomy, as well as the male and female catheterisation procedures through both theoretical and practical sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills and gain hands-on experience in a simulated environment. They will also learn about post-procedure catheter positioning and the importance of a thorough post-procedure checklist.

Record keeping is a crucial aspect of catheterisation, and participants will be taught how to accurately and ethically document their procedures. The course will also cover the ethical and legal responsibilities of catheterisation, ensuring that participants understand the importance of following proper protocols and guidelines.

To assess participants competency, a practical workstation and simulated practical assessment will be conducted. This will allow participants to put their knowledge and skills to the test and receive feedback from the trainer. A theory test will also be administered to evaluate their understanding of the course material. The teaching methods used throughout the course will be interactive and engaging, making it an enjoyable and effective learning experience..
