Course Information

This course will enable the candidate to undertake duties of a crane supervisor as defined by the appointed person complying with legislation regulations Codes of Practice and industrial requirements. By the end of the course delegates will have the knowledge to be able to design safe lifting plans that are compliant with the law and take into account all health and safety requirements on site

Who Should Attend?

Supervisors and managers with responsibility for supervising lifting operations who have sufficient experience of the use of cranes to meet the requirements specified in British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes. This course is aimed at people that already have site experience working as a slinger / signaller and want to progress onto the next level.

Course Agenda

Day 1- Theory Training; Day 2- Practical Training; Day 3- Practical Training; Day 4- Theory and Practical Testing.

Training starts at 08:00am and finishes at approximately 16:00pm.

To reach us, start from the A329M in Reading, heading west. Stay right to remain on the A329M and take the exit towards Wharfedale Rd. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Wharfedale Rd, then a slight left towards A3290. Continue onto A3290, then take another slight left towards Showcase Roundabout. Turn left onto Reading Rd/A329 and follow it straight. At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Old Forest Rd, then a slight right onto Toutley Rd. Keep going straight onto Queens Rd, and at the next roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Twyford Rd/A321. Accreditation

Candidates who successfully complete the Crane Supervisor Lifting Operations CPCS A62 or NPORS N405 training course will receive a Red CPCS Crane Supervisor card, which is valid for 2 years. This card serves as proof of their competence in crane supervision and lifting operations.

In order to maintain their accreditation, candidates must complete an NVQ within the 2-year period. Upon completion of the NVQ, they will be eligible to receive a Blue CPCS card, which is valid for 5 years. This demonstrates their continued competence and commitment to the industry.

The course consists of a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practicals, providing a comprehensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of a crane supervisor. Candidates will be assessed through both theory and practical tests, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their duties safely and effectively..

On the last day of the course, candidates will be theory tested, this is a verbal test, one on one with the tester and it will be recorded. Once they have achieved this, they will then be practical tested, outside on the machine.. If the candidate does not reach the required marks, then they will not achieve the tests and will need re-scheduling.
