Course Information

This course will give candidates foundation training and assessment towards a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Red Trained Operator card. Accredited under ITSSAR.. All courses will give delegates the skills to operate the crane safely and efficiently. They will learn how to carry out a pre use inspection operate the various attachments manoeuvre a variety of loads using the machine and understand signals given by the slingers and signallers. Delegates will also be able to recall and explain the causes of instability of the truck and loads.

Who Should Attend?

Potential and existing operators For operators who have experience on a lorry mounted crane / HIAB but have no certification or their certificate is over 5 years old. Novice experienced and refresher courses available.

Course Agenda

The 5-Day Lorry Loader Training Course is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations PUWER and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations LOLER. The course begins with an introduction to these regulations, alongside the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, ensuring a solid foundation in legal compliance.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with the lorry loader, starting with pre-shift inspections and familiarisation with machine controls and instruments. This practical approach allows learners to understand the components and main types of lorry loaders, setting the stage for effective operation.

The course will cover essential operational techniques, including setting up for lifting operations, basic manoeuvres such as raising, lowering, and slewing, as well as preparing and securing loads for travel. Emphasis will be placed on lifting and placing loads at various heights safely.

Finally, participants will learn about the selection and use of attachments, load weight assessment, and the principles of safe operation. This comprehensive training ensures that candidates are well-prepared to operate lorry loaders safely and efficiently in real-world scenarios..
